Get Involved

There are numerous ways you can Get Involved at Charleston Community Early Learning Center. We have an active Board of Directors as well as a Parent/Teacher Committee that plans and executes events throughout the year. As ongoing fundraisers, the Center is collecting milk jug caps as part of the Prairie Farms Our Caps Your Cause Fundraiser and is an eligible charity for donations through Amazon Smile.

Parent/Teacher Committee:

This committee provides activities in support of the classroom experience. Past activities have included coordination and setup/cleanup of the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day breakfasts, the Santa Shop where children can select items for family members and friends, and the annual Thanksgiving Feast, etc.

Board of Directors:

The Board meets on a monthly basis to conduct the business of the Center. It also has a committee structure made up of board members and other volunteers. Board members serve for 3-year terms. The Board is made up of three parent members, three community members and three Wesley United Methodist Church members.

Board Committees:

(you do not have to be on the Board to serve on these Committees)

Communications/Marketing Committee: This work group focuses on the important issues of getting the word out about the Center. Activities may include efforts such as brochure design/distribution, website maintenance and social media.

Program and Personnel Committee: This work group focuses on the details behind having an effective staff and the activities of the Center. Responsibilities include review of job descriptions, policy booklets, annual parent satisfaction survey, etc.

Finance Committee: This work group monitors the budget and financial operation of the Center.

Facilities Committee: This work group focuses on the physical facility, including developing current and long range plans to enhance the environment and looking for ways to fund these enhancements. Writing grants is one potential avenue to secure support.

We also invite family members, community members and staff to contribute other skills, interests or hobbies that would be of interest to the children at the Center.
